Winches should be stored in a dry position, off the floor. Winch cables are supplied on  reels, on which they should also be stored. If a reel is not available, a winch cable can be stored inside an old car tyre, which is also a convenient way of transporting it, both in vehicles and on work sites. Before storing, put a little oil in the tyre, and then turn it to oil the cable. Always wear gloves when handling cables.
