Coiling a ropeRopes should always be coiled properly and hung up for storage. If the ropes are wet, coil them loosely until they are dry, and then coil them again and secure as shown below. When coiling rope, stand as shown and by turning the wrist, put a half twist into each coil. The half twist should go in the same direction as the coil of the rope, i.e. if you are coiling the rope in a clockwise direction, put a clockwise half twist in the rope. This makes the coils lie neatly, rather than twisting to form a figure of eight. Store ropes away from chemicals.
