Roadside hedges frequently have power or telephone lines running along them, and in an overgrown hedge, may run through the tops of the trees. It is the duty of the utility company to ensure growth is kept cut and clear of the lines, but check closely before you start that nothing you are going to lay could come in contact with lines. On urban sites, check for underground services, as driving stakes into the ground when hedge laying may cause a problem.
