Link with playcentres or other playschemes which give after-school and holiday care. Work with playleaders to run various activities on an environmental theme, which could include arts and crafts, sculpture, vegetable dyes, pond-dipping, willow-weaving, nature gardening and so on. In some areas, new schemes have started up through TCV initiatives. Playschemes and other children’s groups that also involve parents and local residents can become significant community activities in areas where community action is not high. When working with children, the provisions of the Children Act must be followed. See Bury project.
