This chapter looks at the planning and design of woodlands for multi-purpose uses, which might include landscape improvement, wildlife, recreation, community involvement, and production of timber or coppice material. Planting of small groups of trees, avenues and individual trees is also considered. The information concentrates on native species, but introduced species may also be appropriate.
