Having made any structural changes necessary, you can now start laying on services and fitting out the workshop and toolstore.
There will be many local resources in your area for materials and guidance. Visit railway yards for old sleepers, and building demolition sites and demolition yards for all sorts of materials. Look in the local paper for farm and country house auctions. These can be a cheap source of tools as well as other materials. Talk to your local timber merchants and get an idea of the going rate for materials. You will then be in a better position for judging whether auction prices are worthwhile. Advertise in your group newsletter and visit your volunteer bureau. Visit other local groups and TCV regional workshops and toolstores, schools workshops and college facilities.
